2. Before you register: check the senate list
You cannot register until your institution has uploaded your name. What the senate list is, and how to check it: log in at portal.nysc.org.ng, choose Senate List, enter your matriculation number and school. If your name is missing, your school’s student affairs office fixes it, not NYSC and not an agent.
3. Online registration
- Register yourself. Cyber cafés and “agents” are the number one source of wrong dates of birth and wrong course names on call-up letters, and NYSC will not register you at camp if your call-up letter’s graduation date differs from your statement of result.
- Your name, date of birth and course must match your statement of result exactly.
- Foreign-trained graduates go through physical verification first.
- Print and sign the required forms and take them to camp.
- Date of birth corrections now require a WAEC verification PIN on your dashboard.
4. Call-up letter and deployment
Your deployment state and camp appear on your dashboard before the call-up letter is printed. Relocation on grounds of marriage or health is applied for after camp, not before. Read how to write a relocation letter.
5. Camp
Three weeks. Find your camp in the camp directory and read what the last batch said about it. Pack from the kit checklist. Travel by day.
6. PPA and the service year
Your Place of Primary Assignment is given on the last day of camp. If it is unsuitable, you have a short window to request a change with a PPA request letter. Monthly federal allowance is ₦77,000; state allowances vary.
7. Passing out
Your discharge certificate is issued at POP. Lose it and replacing it is slow; scan it the day you get it.
