Nysc Medical Certificate saga is one of the greatest challenge PCMs face on the NYSC registration camp ground due to fake NYSC medical certificates.
Difference between Medical Fitness Report and Medical Report for Redeployment
The last thing a Prospective Corp Member want is to be refused admission into the Nysc Orientation Camp after travelling miles away from their comfort zone just because they brought the wrong medical certificate or one that isn’t credible enough to be accepted. Trust me, no excuse whatsoever will be entertained by the Nysc officials if you find yourself in this position.
Also, most PCMs and even corp members that want to get redeployed to another state based on medical issue don’t know which medical certificate to present to Nysc officials. That is why we have made this article to explain the various medical certificates used for different purposes during your service year and how to get credible ones.
The importance of using only credible medical certificates cannot be overemphasized especially for PCMs going to camp as it is strictly a legal offense to take counterfeit documents to camp; this includes your Statement of result, School ID etc. Anyone caught with such will be dealt with according to the law so endeavor not to skip any part of the article as we’ll be discussing every detail needed to be known and providing you with sample medical certificates.
There are majorly two types of medical certificate as far as NYSC is concerned and the difference between them is in their use. The two major medical certificates are:
- Medical fitness report and
- Medical Report for redeployment
Medical Fitness Report
This is a fitness report that shows the physical and mental status of a PCM. It is a compulsory document which every PCM must present when they get to their various camps; a requisite (with some other documents) for admission into camp. It consists of PCM’s Name, Sex, Age, Fitness Status, Doctor’s signature, MDC no, Hospital stamp and NMA stamp.
Example of Medical Fitness Report
It states the results of various tests required by NYSC that every PCM carry out to certify their mental and physical fitness for the orientation course and service year at large. Some of these tests includes HIV I &II, PCV, Arthritis, Blood pressure etc. Your medical examiner must formally certify you physically and mentally fit. This is a measure put in place by the NYSC officials to make sure everybody on camp is safe and sound.
It is quite easy to get medical fitness report. All you need to do is walk into any Government or Military hospital and tell them you need a Nysc medical fitness report. This can either be State or Federal owned hospitals. Example of such hospital includes General Hospitals, Air Force or even institution teaching hospitals such as LASUTH. They’ll carry out the required tests on you and inform you when you should come for your report.
It is highly recommended to get your medical fitness report done not more than a month to orientation course as anything older than that might be considered obsolete and you might be requested to get another one done when you get to camp.
Medical Report for Redeployment
This medical certificate is primarily used for redeployment from one state to another. Redeployment refers to the posting of a corp member from the original state on their Call up letter to another state. This can be done only on two basis of Marriage and Medical/Health issue. Females who are married and have necessary marriage documents to proof their claims are relocated to the state in which their spouses live.
Example of a Medical Report for Deployment 
Corp members/PCMs with critical medical condition too are relocated to the state of their choice, usually where they’re undergoing treatment for the medical issue or a state nearby but only if they have an authentic medical report from a recognized medical practitioner working in a Government or Military hospital; State or Federal owned.
Note that Corp Members/PCMs will be adequately screened for their claimed illness as it has come to the notice of Nysc officials that they get fake reports just to get out of their deployed states and get relocated to their preferred state. Your medical certificate will be screened too and if it is found to contain any discrepancy you will be denied redeployment and will be sanctioned according to the law. So once again make sure your medical certificates are 100% credible.
