In this case, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has debunked reports on social media that terrorists are targeting some corps members of a particular region serving in Borno State for assassination.
In a statement issued by its Area Coordinator, North East Zone, Tobias Ibeh, yesterday described the claim as baseless rumors.

However, “The rumor was created and bandied by a faceless group, purporting to be a ethnic association of corps members serving in the state in which they alleged threats to the lives of members from a particular state in the country,” the statement reads.
In conclusion, he said Insurgents not targeting corps members in Borno and there was no association of corps members representing any ethnic group or states in Borno State, adding that such groups were antithetical to the philosophy behind the establishment of the scheme about 47 years ago.
