NYSC Blog started in 2018 because the information corps members needed was scattered across rumours, WhatsApp broadcasts and cyber-café agents. We set out to be the one place a prospective corps member could trust: what NYSC actually said, what it means for you, and a community of people going through the same thing.
By 2020 we had helped over 2,500 corps members register correctly, find good PPAs and get through their service year, with a daily readership across every state, a WhatsApp and Telegram community, a job portal, a YouTube channel and a forum. Corps members called us the Hub of NYSC Excellence, and the name stuck.
Why we’re back
After a pause from 2022, NYSC Blog relaunched in 2026 with the whole archive restored and a clearer job: to be the guide, not the noise. Batch hubs that follow each batch through the year. A directory of all 37 orientation camps rated by the people who served there. Letter templates that work. A dictionary of every term you’ll hear. And straight talk about the scams that target corps members.
Who runs it
NYSC Blog is run by ex-corps members. Its founder, Oluwasegun Aluko James, served in Batch A at the Iseyin orientation camp in Oyo State and completed his service year in Lagos after relocating, which is where the idea for a blog that told corps members what actually happens came from. He now lives in the United Kingdom, where he is Founder and Executive Director of TheQuestLab CIC in Hull, a civic organisation helping migrants and young professionals rebuild their careers, and founder of Verogig and MyCarePrint. He holds an MSc in Computer Science. Every guide on this site is written or checked by someone who has been through the process, and we say so on each post.
What we believe
- NYSC information should be free. If someone is charging you for registration, relocation, PPA placement or call-up letters, they are cheating you.
- Official sources first. We link to the NYSC portal and circulars, and we mark rumours as rumours.
- Corps members know things NYSC doesn’t publish. Our camp reviews and community exist so that knowledge is passed on.
